This course consists of an on-line, self-paced preparatory lessons followed up with a one-day in-person session. The certificate will be granted upon successful completion of both elements.
The course will cover the knowledge areas required to safely and legally operate a UAV in Canadian Airspace. At the conclusion of the course, the participant will receive a certificate. The participant will also be given an opportunity to take the Industry Canada exam for the Radio Operators Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC-A). On successful completion, the participant will be given a letter of recommendation to Industry Canada to issue the certificate. The course will prepare the participant for operations of UAVs of 25 kg or less within Visual Line of Sight (VLOS).
Registration is limited to ensure personal attention.
Transport Canada Approval
This is where we would like to claim that our course is approved by Transport Canada (TC). Unfortunately, we can’t do that. Nobody can. TC does not (as yet) approve UAV ground schools, nor is there a standard TC exam for UAV pilots. This will change by the end of this year at the latest but, in the mean time, no training organization can truthfully claim that their course is TC approved. What we can, truthfully, claim is that our course syllabus is based on TP-15263E, Knowledge Requirements for Pilots of Unmanned Air Vehicle Systems UAV 25 kg or less Operating Within Visual Line of Sight. Further, we can guarantee acceptance of our completion certificate by TC or we will refund your fee.
