This course consists of four days of instructor-led knowledge and skill training. The fourth day is partially in the field flying, weather permitting. The location is near the picturesque village of Merrickville, a short 45 minute drive from downtown Ottawa.

The course will cover the knowledge areas required to safely and legally operate an RPAS in Canadian Airspace beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). You must also complete both the Transport Canada on-line Advanced and Level 1 Complex written exams and pass a flight review with an examiner. We can provide that as well

At the conclusion of the course, the participant will receive a completion certificate suitable for insurance purposes (should your carrier require training). In the event that the planned operation requires a Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC), the certificate will prove that you have received the required training.

The participant will also be given an opportunity to take the Innovation, Science and Economic Development/Industry Canada exam for the Radio Operators Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC-A). On successful completion, the participant will be given a letter of recommendation to Industry Canada to issue the certificate.

The course will prepare the participant to write the Transport Canada on-line Level 1 Complex Exam for Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPAs) and to take the Level 1 Complex Flight Review.

Registration is limited to ensure personal attention.

Transport Canada Approval

This is where we would like to claim that our course is approved by Transport Canada (TC). Unfortunately, we can’t do that. Nobody can. TC does not approve RPAS ground schools. No training organization can truthfully claim that their course is TC approved. What we can, truthfully, claim is that our course syllabus is based on TP-15530E (1st ed.), Knowledge Requirements for Pilots of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems – Level 1 Complex Operations.

Flight Training

Flight training and preparation for the flight review are included.

Fine Print

The full tuition is payable on booking. Refunds for cancellation will be made (less $50) up to 7 days prior to the start of the course. If we need to cancel the course, a full refund will be given. We reserve the right to set minimum attendance.
